Overview of the Examination

Written Examination which lasts two hours and is worth fifty percent for AS level. There are two sections of the exam. 

Section A - Textual analysis and representation of an unseen extract of a television drama. (This will be worth twenty-five percent.)

Representation: 
- Gender
- Age
- Ethnicity
- Sexuality
- Physical Ability/Disability
- Class and Status 
- Regional Identity

Section B - To assess your knowledge and understanding of media institutions and their production processes, issues concerning audience reception and consumption of media texts. (This will be worth twenty-five percent.) 

- Institutions and Audiences 
- Case study of British and US film industries
- Looking at films such as Avatar, Sherlock Homes and more 

We will be assessed on:
- Quality of examples from the text (20 Marks)
- Terminology (10 Marks)
- Quality of written work (20 Marks)
